Panela

Founded in 2015 in Aix-en-Provence, PANELA brings together three partners with complementary backgrounds: Arthur Grundler, an HMONP-certified architect; Edward Nawar, an interior architect and construction manager; and Léonard Goniche, a product designer.

The firm thus combines three disciplines: architecture, design, and construction.
From a 40 sqm retail space to the construction of multi-unit housing, PANELA works on a wide variety of projects: the rehabilitation of historic buildings, the creation of commercial spaces, and the transformation and renovation of residential spaces.

Rather than an identifiable style or a repetitive aesthetic, PANELA advocates a “minimal intervention” approach. Whereas minimalism tends toward an aesthetic end, “minimal intervention” involves scrutinizing every element to question its existence and purpose.The result is clear-cut projects where the intervention is easily understood: what existed before, what was removed, and what was added.

The partners seek a form of truth—a coherence between the value of things and their expression. At PANELA, design and execution are one and the same: the way something will be executed is, from the outset, a design choice. The partners’ diverse expertise (architecture, design, execution) allows them to design to the full extent of their ability to execute.

PANELA is currently working on several public projects (food retail, restaurants, etc.) as well as on villas in the south of France.
